Veteran defender ready to enter contract talks with Chelsea despite injury concerns
Chelsea defender Thiago Silva is reportedly willing to extend his deal with the club for another year despite his injury records.
Thiago Silva remains one of Chelsea’s best performers this season as the 36-years-old has been able to defy all odds by staying consistent.
However, his injury against Tottenham Hotspur has become a headache for club manager Thomas Tuchel who had earlier worked with him in Paris Saint-Germain.
Thiago Silva’s deal is set to run out at the end of the current season but he has the option to extend for another year and according to Fabrizio Romano he’s willing to take the offer.
The 36-year-old has helped transform the Chelsea backline and top hierarchy at the club might be tempted in giving him the deal as they see him a positive influence for the young lads.
Thiago Silva has amassed 20 appearances and two goals already at Chelsea and the former AC Milan defender has affected the game of Kurt Zouma who he has formed a great partnership with.
With Chelsea linked to new defenders, there are indications that the Blues might not table a new contract to him.
If he remains at Stamford Bridge next season, chances are that his playing chances will reduce drastically.
