Chelsea might not be the only team eager to add Bayern Munich defender David Alaba to their squad but the blues are not willing to pay a huge salary for his service.

David Alaba remains one of the best defenders in world football as he also can play as a midfielder.

The versatile Austrian who has won all the trophies available in Bayern Munich is set to leave the Bundesliga club as a free agent in the summer as both parties failed to strike a bargain on a new deal.

Top clubs across Europe have been monitoring his situation and Chelsea are thought to be one of the favourites for his signature.

However, a new report suggests that the blues want David Alaba to lower his wage demands if he wants to move to Chelsea.

The Telegraph reports that the Austrian demands could put a stumbling block on any move to Stamford Bridge.

The reports stated that David Alaba who is now 28-year-old would expect a salary of just under £400k per week in the English capital but Chelsea are not willing to pay such fee.

Chelsea already boast of an experienced defender in Thiago Silva who might be signing an extension with the club and so does not see Alaba’s deal as a do or die.
