UCL: Lukaku hands Chelsea first win

European champions Chelsea are on course to win the UEFA Champions League trophy for the second time in a row after they defended their title in the first game against Zenit St. Petersburg.

Recall that the Blues hosted the Russian side at Stamford Bridge on Tuesday night; the first half of the match proved a but case to be cracked for Chelsea.

But in the second, the Blues summer signing, Romelu Lukaku, gave them the winning goal, which turns out to be his third goal in two games and his fourth for Chelsea since arriving from Inter Milan for £98 million.

Lukaku scored after converting a far-post cross from the Blues captain Cesar Azpilicueta with a header of stunning accuracy after shrugging aside three touch-tight Zenit defenders.

Without the presence of the Belgian striker, the Blues would have ended the game in a draw.

But with the signing of Lukaku this summer, the Blues now have a striker who is hungry for goals, unlike last season when they were playing based on luck and chances.

Following their latest win, the Blues will return to action in the Premier League, where they will face Tottenham Hotspur next.
