Former Chelsea star, Andy Townsend has joined many others to react to his former club’s recent defeat in the Uefa Champions League.

Chelsea returned to action on Tuesday night when they played Dinamo Zagreb in Croatia in their first UCL opening match of the season.

Townsend in his statement slammed the club’s manager, Thomas Tuchel as the game ended in a 1-0 defeat for the west London side.

Zagreb won all three points thanks to an early goal from Mislav Orsic in the first half.

Chelsea had some chances with Reece James hitting the post.

Zagreb goalkeeper Dominik Livakovic also up a brilliant double save to deny Mason Mount and Hakim Ziyech.

The match also saw Tuchel bagged a yellow card for dissent.

“The balance isn’t quite there, the combinations aren’t quite clicking and working at the moment,” Townsend told talkSPORT.

“Tuchel looks like he’s fighting with the squad at the moment and doesn’t really know which one is the best way forward.”
