UCL: Alonso replies Kroos ahead of Chelsea vs Real Madrid clash

Chelsea defender Marcos Alonso has responded to Real Madrid star Toni Kroos after he claimed that the LaLiga side could beat the Blues in the Uefa Champions League quarter-final if they took care of their errors.

Kroos, in a statement earlier this month, told Diario AS that Los Blancos could eliminate Chelsea if they took care of their errors.

This comes after Real Madrid and Chelsea were paired against each other in the UCL last-8, making it the second time the Spanish side will face Chelsea under Thomas Tuchel as a coach.

The Los Blancos lost to Chelsea in the semi-finals of the UCL last season, and many expect the same to happen this season, considering LaLiga side poor form.

Speaking on Kroos’ claims, Alonso fired a warning to Real Madrid by referring to the two sides’ meeting last season.

“We already showed last year what we are capable of. It is a different year, another moment, but we are facing two great teams, and we will try to give everything to reach the semi-finals,” Alonso was quoted by Football London as saying.

He added, “I think there are no favourites. At this point, any team is complicated, and it will be a beautiful and difficult tie for sure. Let us leave it there, at 50% chance for each.”
