Two players Chelsea need to win a trophy this season

Chelsea defender and Germany international Antonio Rudiger has named two players who are critical to Chelsea winning a trophy this season.

According to Rudiger, the players are Chelsea midfielders N’Golo Kante and Matteo Kovacic.

Chelsea had an impressive form at the start of the season and were topping the Premier League table; however, after 14 matches, the Blues have now descended to third place behind Man City and Liverpool.

So far, the Blues led by Thomas Tuchel have only taken just five points from their last four games after they lost several key players to injuries and Covid-19.

However, Mateo Kovacic and N’Golo Kante are back in the team and were part of their 0-0 Premier League draw with Wolves on Sunday.

“It is not easy for him [Kante], he has been out a number of times,” Rudiger said, according to Metro.

“The same for Kova. They came in and were lively. That is very important for us because it is clear that we need them.”

Chelsea will return to action in the  Premier League on Boxing Day when they face Aston Villa, but before then, they will make a short trip to west London rivals Brentford, where they will battle it out in the EFL Cup quarter-final on Wednesday.
