Tuchel says sanctions affecting Chelsea

Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel has revealed how the sanction imposed on the club by the UK government was affecting it.

This comes as Blues’ owner, Roman Abramovich, was sanctioned by the UK government and the Premier League outfit is in the process of being sold.

The Blues are operating by a special licence which prevents them from signing players or agreeing contract extensions with existing members of their squad.

This has made them unable to reach agreement with the likes Antonio Rudiger, Andreas Christensen who are likely to leave the club in June.

Currently, Chelsea cannot approach possible replacements or sign a new player except there is a takeover at the club.

“[In a normal season], you are never fully sure but we would have some targets and we would have for sure contacted some players and found out about their situations.

“Of course, now our hands are tied. We can still have talks inside the building but we cannot act. The situation is not ideal,” Tuchel said.
