Manchester United will now face competition from Chelsea in their race to sign Frenkie de Jong from Barcelona.

This comes as a report via Relevo claim Chelsea are set to submit a bid for the player.

Man Utd have been linked with moves for De Jong for most of the season, but are yet to see the deal happen

A major reason for the deal is because of the significant chunk of wages Barcelona owe De Jong.

Aside from this, the Dutch midfielder is also not particularly convinced about a transfer to Old Trafford and has instead returned to training with the LaLiga side.

With Chelsea joining the race for the midfielder, Man Utd are in for stiff competition as the Blues have a higher chance of convincing De Jong to move to Stamford Bridge instead.

This is because while Man Utd will be playing in the Europa League next season, Chelsea will be playing in the Champions League.

Barcelona are said to be aware of Chelsea’s interest in De Jong. With a report claiming the Blues have made their interest known over the past few hours and are expected to submit a bid soon.
