Chelsea start talks to sign Lille striker

Chelsea have opened talks over a potential move for Lille star Jonathan Ikone, as indicated by reports in France.

The young forward scored three goals and six assists in Ligue 1 this season before the coronavirus pandemic brought the French league season to an end toward the end of April.

Jonathan Ikone’s noteworthy displays earned him his first call-up to the France national side in September 2019 and the 22-years-old attacker has since earned four caps under Didier Deschamps.

Furthermore, Jonathan Ikone’s ability has not gone unnoticed over the Channel, with both Newcastle and Tottenham vigorously connected with the ex-Paris Saint-Germain youth player.

Chelsea have joined the race for Ikone’s signature and conditional plans have started over a potential deal this summer.

Asked whether Chelsea had made a £80million offer for Kai Havertz, Lampard answered: ‘No, no offers have gone in.’

Chelsea have compensated for some recent setbacks after their two-window transfer ban by signing Hakim Ziyech and Timo Werner recently.

Chelsea signed Hakim Ziyech from Ajax for £33.6m and RB Leipzig forward Timo Werner for £47.5m.
