Transfer News: Arsenal experience forward leave for boyhood club

Brazilian forward Willian has finally completed a move away from Arsenal as he joins his boyhood club Corinthians on a free transfer.

Willian signed a two years contract with Arsenal last summer but the Brazilian was not able to replicate the form that saw him became an important player at Chelsea.

The Brazilian was deemed surplus to requirement under Mikel Arteta and both parties decided to settle things amicably.

Arsenal via a statement on their official website confirmed that Willian had two more years to run on his contract but following positive discussions with him and his team, he’ll be leaving for a new opportunity with Corinthians in Brazil where he began his career.

William made 38 appearances for Arsenal in the 2020-21 campaign after an impressive career with their London rivals, Chelsea.

He arrived in Chelsea from Russia’s Anzhi Makhachkala in 2013 and scored 63 goals in 339 appearances in a trophy-laden spell.

Willian leaves England having won two Premier League titles, the FA Cup, the League Cup and the Europa League.
