Transfer Deal: Chelsea among favourites to land this Bayern Munich star

Ahead of the January transfer window, Chelsea have been tipped as one of the favourite clubs to sign David Alaba from Bayern Munich.

Bayern Munich and Alaba have failed to agree on a new contract term and a new report according to Bild revealed the German champions have now withdrawn their contract offer for the versatile defender, which means he is allowed to leave the club.

According to Alaba’s current contract, his deal with Bayern Munich expires next summer but he will be free to negotiate with other teams from January 1.

Chelsea are in need of a new defender and the Blues would be willing to sign a player with Alaba’s quality and experience.

The main issue however is that Alaba is aspiring for a £350,000-a-week which Chelsea may not be willing to pay as their current highest wage is around £310k-a-week, which is paid to summer arrival Kai Havertz.

Aside Chelsea, other clubs who are on the list to sign Alaba include, Barcelona, PSG and Real Madrid.

However, a report disclosed that Alaba would prefer a move to Spain where he could join one of Barcelona or Real Madrid.
