Timo Werner may have proven he has a future at Chelsea

This is according to former Chelsea star Joe Cole who was impressed by Timo Werner’s performance against Crystal Palace on Sunday at Wembley Stadium.

Cole says Werner may have a future at Chelsea after his latest encouraging performances.

Werner had struggled to settle at Stamford Bridge since joining them from RB Leipzig in the summer of 2020, but it appears he is finally beginning to gain his form.

The German striker assisted Mason Mount’s goal in the second half against Crystal Palace.

He scored during their aggregate defeat to Real Madrid in the UCL and also scored a brace during the Blues last weekend’s 6-0 win over Southampton.

“It was a lovely assist for Mason,” Cole said on ITV. “He’s (Werner) always a bright spark, he always brings something to the party.

“Even when he’s not at his very very best. I think after the last three or four weeks there may be a future for him at Chelsea. On that role high up on the left, he threatens, he gets behind. He can be very pleased with his day’s work. That’s for sure.

“Timo Werner doesn’t give up. When he doesn’t score a goal he’s offering something else.”
