Former Chelsea star John Terry has thrown his weight behind Mason Mount after the midfielder chose to depart Chelsea and join Manchester United this summer.

Terry also appealed to Chelsea fans to ‘not be too harsh’ on Mount.

Despite being a lifelong Chelsea supporter, the 24-year-old midfielder exited Stamford Bridge in the recent summer transfer window, following a lengthy contract issue with the club.

Man United signed him in a deal worth £60 million and since then the English star has faced criticism from his former club’s fans for leaving the club.

During his time at Chelsea, Mount made 195 appearances, scored 33 goals and created 37 assists.

He played an important role in Chelsea’s Champions League victory in 2021.

Terry in a recent statement suggested there was more to Mount’s exit from Chelsea.

While talking to Knockout Events (as quoted by the Mirror), Terry said:

“Mase is proper Chels through and through. There’s always two sides to a story and I know the other side to it. I’m not going to air that tonight but there’s another side to the story. Let’s not be too harsh on him when he comes back.”
