Liverpool star and Egypt international Mohamed Salah is expected to sign a new contract with the Reds this season.

Recall that Salah’s contract at Anfield is expected to end in 2023, but the reports have revealed that Liverpool are working on extending his contract in order to beat off interest from Spanish clubs; Real Madrid and Barcelona especially.

Former Liverpool star and pundit, Jammie Carragher in a statement has expressed his confidence that the Reds will soon be able to announce a new deal for Salah.

Salah so far has a record of 127 goals plus 49 assists in 206 appearances for the Reds.

“I think Liverpool have some of the best players in the world, with Alisson signing a six-year deal and Virgil van Djik. I think Mohamed Salah will be the next one to sign,” Carragher told Sky Sports News.

Carragher noted that the years gone by, players of quality like Salah would be going to Real Madrid or Barcelona but he us hope it would change this time around.

He noted that Liverpool hasn’t spent much in the transfer market this year because they would be extending the contract of some of their players.
