Rio Ferdinand Urges Arsenal to Sign £40m Premier League Star as Ideal Left-Wing Solution

Rio Ferdinand believes Arsenal should make a bold move for Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford, insisting the England international would be an ideal addition to Mikel Arteta’s squad this summer.
The Gunners are actively searching for a new left winger ahead of the 2026/27 campaign, with Leandro Trossard widely expected to leave the Emirates before the transfer window closes. Strengthening the left side of the attack has become one of Arsenal’s top priorities as Arteta looks to build on last season’s Premier League title success.
Several names have already been linked with a move to north London. Aston Villa star Morgan Rogers remains a leading target, while Club Brugge winger Christos Tzolis and Paris Saint-Germain’s Bradley Barcola are also under consideration.
Despite those options, Ferdinand believes Rashford should be at the top of Arsenal’s shortlist. Speaking about the Manchester United forward, the former England defender said he would have no hesitation in making the move if he were in Arsenal’s position.
“I’m taking him,” Ferdinand said, arguing that Rashford’s pace, direct running and proven Premier League pedigree could make him a perfect fit for Arteta’s attacking system.
Rashford’s future at Old Trafford remains uncertain after Barcelona opted against signing him permanently, choosing instead to complete a deal for Anthony Gordon from Newcastle United. Reports suggest Manchester United would be willing to listen to offers in the region of £40 million.
Whether Arsenal decide to pursue the opportunity remains unclear, but Ferdinand believes signing a player of Rashford’s quality could significantly strengthen the champions’ attack ahead of another Premier League and Champions League campaign.
