Chelsea Take Firm £120m Stance on Midfield Star as Santos Exit Raises Fresh Questions

Chelsea have reaffirmed their determination to keep Enzo Fernandez this summer, making it clear that the Argentina international will only be allowed to leave if their £120 million valuation is met in full.

The midfielder has continued to be linked with a move away from Stamford Bridge, but Chelsea’s hierarchy remain unwilling to negotiate below their asking price. Any club hoping to sign Fernandez will need to submit an offer matching the club’s valuation before discussions over a transfer can progress.

Chelsea’s position has been strengthened after Real Madrid reportedly ruled themselves out of the race for the World Cup winner, reducing the number of realistic destinations capable of financing such a high-profile move.

The situation has become even more significant following Andrey Santos’ expected transfer to Manchester United. With one of the club’s promising midfielders departing, Chelsea are even less inclined to sanction the sale of Fernandez unless an exceptional offer is received.

Despite continued speculation surrounding his future and reports that members of his camp remain open to a move, Chelsea are planning for the new season with Fernandez at the heart of Xabi Alonso’s midfield.

The Blues have already invested heavily in new signings this summer as Alonso begins reshaping the squad following last season’s disappointing campaign. Retaining key players is now viewed as equally important as bringing in fresh talent.

Unless a club is prepared to meet Chelsea’s £120 million valuation, Fernandez is expected to remain at Stamford Bridge, where he is likely to play a central role in the club’s efforts to return to the Premier League’s top four and challenge for major honours.
