Reports: Chelsea-linked midfielder set to sign new contract with current club

Chelsea have been dealt with a huge blow in their pursuit of Saint-Etienne young midfielder Lucas Gourna-Douath who is set to sign a new long-term contract with the french side.

RMC Sport have linked Gourna-Douath with Chelsea, as well as Atalanta and Borussia Dortmund, but he doesn’t appear likely to go anywhere this summer.

The latest update on Gourna-Douath was reported by popular Italian transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano.

According to Fabrizio Romano via a post on Twitter, Lucas Gourna is set to sign a new contract with St-Etienne until June 2025, total agreement reached.

He also noted that Chelsea are not the club who won’t get the youngster this summer as Borussia Dortmund will also miss out.

Gourna-Douath is considered one of French football’s biggest hopes for the future as he’s currently 17-years-old.

The teenager has already made 27 appearances in Ligue 1, which is testament to how highly he is thought of at Saint-Etienne, even at his tender age.
