Spanish side Real Madrid have landed a transfer blow on Chelsea after they seem to have beaten the Premier League side in the race to sign goalkeeper Gabriel Slonina.

Slonina, who is currently signed to MLS side Chicago Fire has drawn interest from a number of English clubs, including Chelsea after his top form in the MLS this season.

However, Slonina’s agent, Jaime Garcia, in a statement said he would prefer the shot-stopper signs for Real Madrid, who have already had one bid rejected, but are expected to table a second, more financially appealing bid.

“It should be an honour for Chicago, and the MLS, to have Real Madrid take notice of one of their players,” Garcia was quoted by Daily Mail as saying.

“We are hoping Chicago can find an agreement with Real Madrid to realise Gabriel’s dream of playing for this club.

“With respect to other clubs and other offers, we’ve received many and at the moment we’re gracious to those clubs but you cannot say no to Real Madrid,” he said.
