The EFL has postponed two fixtures that were to take place on Friday in honour of Queen Elizabeth II, who passed on at the age of 96 on Thursday.

According to the planned schedule, Burnley were to face Norwich City in the Championship, while Tranmere Rovers were to host Stockport County in League Two.

However, both games will now be rescheduled.

“As a mark of respect, following the passing of Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II earlier today, the EFL has confirmed that its fixtures scheduled for tomorrow evening (Friday 9 September) – Burnley v Norwich City and Tranmere Rovers v Stockport County – have been postponed,” the statement from EFL read.

The statement added that the rest of this weekend’s fixtures will be decided on “following a review of the official mourning guidance, in addition to further consultation with DCMS and other sports on Friday morning.”

In another report, the Premier League is yet to officially confirm if this weekend’s fixtures will go on as scheduled but there are claims it could be shifted.
