Premier League legend baffled by Chelsea’s boss decision not use in-form star against Arsenal
Former Manchester United defender Gary Neville has questioned Frank Lampard’s decision to drop Oliver Giroud during their defeat to London side, Arsenal on Saturday night.
Arsenal have failed to win since their one nil victory against Manchester United in November but put in an impressive performance against their London rivals by winning 3-1.
Though Chelsea pulled a goal back through Tammy Abraham, Frank Lampard’s team suffered their third defeat in fourth game and this has raised more doubt on their title credibilty.
Gary Neville while speaking with Sky Sport was sceptical of Chelsea’s end product and question his former teammate at England why he decided to keep Oliver Giroud on the bench despite his good scoring form.
Neville noted that he was surprised Giroud didn’t enter the fray 20 minutes before the end of the match because Chelsea have been dangerous when they put a cross in the box.
Lampard will be eager to see his boys bounce back form their disappointing performance when they face Aston Villa at Stamford Bridge on Monday.
It’s left to see if Oliver Giroud who has been linked with a move away from the club will secure a starting spot or will end up on the bench.
