Premier league club reportedly lead race in the pursuit of Chelsea outcast

Chelsea are set to let go of some experience players in their squad due to the large number of the team and Ross Barkley is one of the players leaving Stamford Bridge.

Barkley has not been able to cement his place at Chelsea ever since he joined from Everton and with two years left on his contract, the blues are willing to say goodbye this summer.

The England international last season on loan at Aston Villa and he performed well for Dean Smith’s side.

Barkley made 24 appearances for the club, scoring three times and providing one assist in the process.

The performance have seen clubs in the Premier League eager to have him in their squad and Newcastle are reportedly the latest club eager to sign Barkley.

According to The Athletic, Newcastle boss Steve Bruce is a great admirer of the former Everton youngster and has identified him as the ideal player to boost his midfield during the 2021-22 season.

Newcastle first choice was Arsenal’s Joe Willock but Mikel Arteta is not willing to release the youngster who he believes will play a role in his team next season.

Barkley has scored 11 times and registered 11 assists in 86 appearances for his Chelsea in all competitions.
