Potter gives update on Azpilicueta

Chelsea manager, Graham Potter, in a recent update as provided details on Cesar Azpilicueta after his side’s Premier League 1-0 defeat to Southampton on Saturday.

Southampton emerged as the winners thanks to James Ward-Prowse’s lone goal.

A highlight during the match showed the moment Azpilicueta was caught in the face by Southampton’s Sekou Mara, who had attempted an overhead kick during the encounter at Stamford Bridge.

There was a long stoppage as the Spaniard received treatment and left the pitch on a stretcher.

Thankfully, Azpilicueta was able to clap the Chelsea faithful as he departed the pitch.

Providing an update on Azpilicueta, Potter said at his post-match press conference, “He’s in hospital. He is conscious and speaking to his wife. Hopefully, he is in the best place and we’re monitoring.

“He needs to take all the precautions we need to take now.”

He added, “I wish a speedy recovery from Azpi. I spoke to Willy to keep me updated with his state.”
