Pochettino reacts as Chelsea signs 19-year-old midfielder

Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino has reacted to the club’s newest signing Lesley Ugochukwu.

Pochettino in a statement said he would have to assess the new midfielder to know if he is going to be part of his squad next season or leave Chelsea on loan.

This is coming as the Blues on Tuesday officially confirmed the signing of the 19-year-old midfielder from French Ligue 1 side Rennes.

Meanwhile, Ugochukwu penned a seven-year deal with the Blues, with an option for a further year.

Reacting, Pochettino told Chelsea’s official website, “Today is going to be his first training session with us. He is a young and talented player. We don’t know if we have the possibility for him to play tomorrow but we will assess him.

“Now it is time to assess him until the end of the transfer window, and see if he is going to be with us or go on loan.”
