Former Arsenal star Emmanuel Petit has said that Chelsea striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang would be wishing he was part of the Gunners’ EPL title challenge this season instead of struggling at Stamford Bridge.

Aubameyang was at the Emirate stadium for four seasons, scoring 92 goals in 163 matches, where he won the FA Cup and reach the Europa League final.

But he was banished by Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta before being sold to Spanish side Barcelona in January 2022.

“I said at the start of the season when they bought him [Aubameyang] it looked like a panic buy,” Petit told Sporting Post.

“Aubameyang is still a quality striker, but he isn’t what he used to be.

“I think he lost his passion and I think after his spell at Barcelona, he can see what Arsenal are doing without him, what Jesus and Nketiah are doing.

“Maybe he is thinking if he had the right attitude, he could be part of what is going on there. “
