Russian attacking midfielder, Arsen Zakharyan recently cast a shade at Chelsea after his failed transfer to the Premier League side.

Zakharyan was strongly linked with moves to Stamford Bridge in the last three transfer windows.

The reports revealed the Blues were set to trigger the player’s €15million release clause last summer in order to sign him from Dynamo Moscow.

However, the deal failed to materialize owing to the British sanctions on Russia amid Ukraine’s invasion.

The Blues attempted to make a move in the January transfer window, but it failed.

During the recently concluded summer window, some reports claimed that the Blues owner Todd Boehly planned to use a loophole to bring Zakharyan to the west London club.

It would have seen Zakharyan sign for Chelsea’s sister club, Strasbourg, where Boehly has a majority stake.

He would have found it easier to sign Zakharyan through that route.

Zakharyan chose to join La Liga club Real Sociedad over the summer instead.

Speaking on his transfer, Zakharyan insisted that Real Sociedad are a ‘more interesting’ club than Chelsea.

“For me, it was more interesting to come to Real Sociedad than to Chelsea,” Zakharyan said, as quoted by Metro UK.
