A recent report via the Evening Standard has revealed that Chelsea star Mason Mount is not close to signing a new deal with the club despite claims that incoming manager Mauricio Pochettino has an interest in him and plans to make him a key player.

This comes after the Metro had reported that the incoming Chelsea manager wants to keep the player and designate him as one of the key players in the squad.

Mount is said to be one of the players Chelsea are willing to let go this summer as he would be entering his final 12 months.

With the Blues not playing European football next season, they have no option but to trim down their squad and Mount is one of the players that could be affected.

The player had turned down Chelsea’s offer to extend his deal as he wants a higher wage.

Mount has been linked with moves to Liverpool, who have shown interest to sign him.

Letting a player like Mount leave for an EPL rival would be a massive blow for Chelsea.
