Manchester United are supposedly set to rival Liverpool to the signing of RB Leipzig defender Ibrahima Konate this summer.

The Reds are accepted to have recognized the France international as a potential signing in the impending market, despite the fact that RB Leipzig’s sporting director Markus Krosche recently made light of a switch to Anfield.

Like Liverpool, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is also interested to sign another central defender this summer and Konate is currently another player that has been added to their list of possible targets.

Manchester United’s primary centre back targets remain Villarreal’s Pau Torres and Sevilla’s Jules Kounde, but as indicated by Eurosport, failing to sign one of these La Liga protectors could see the Red devils turn their attention toward the Frenchman.

Ibrahima Konate is valued at around £34m by the German outfit and may be permitted to leave the club if the correct offer is made.

The 21-year-old, who has suffered with a ankle injury over much of this season, has made few Bundesliga appearances, scoring once in a 3-0 win over Freiburg in November.
