Former Man Utd star Rio Ferdinand has told the club to stop begging Frenkie De Jong to consider a move to Old Trafford.

The Red Devils have been linked with De Jong throughout this transfer window, but he has been unwilling to move to join the club.

Speaking on his podcast, Vibe with Five, Ferdinand said the likes of Jurgen Klopp or Pep Guardiola would not be following any player around.

He said: “They’ve walked around behind him, begging him (de Jong), “please turn round and notice us, please turn round and notice us.” And he’s looking around and saying “not for me.”

“And we’re still there; “please give us one chance.” How are we putting ourselves in that position? How are we allowing ourselves to be put in a position like that?”

“Do you think Klopp or Pep or Sir Alex or Jose would be following around a player like this?! They wouldn’t be doing that!”

In another report, Man Utd suffered a 4-0 defeat to Brentford on Saturday evening in a second defeat in the EPL this season.
