Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag in a recent statement has opened up on the struggles the club faced to sign English midfielder Mason Mount from Chelsea this summer.

Recall that the Red Devils reached a £60million agreement with the Blues to seal the move.

On Wednesday, Mount made his debut for Manchester United in a 2-0 win over Leeds United in a pre-season friendly, which was played in Oslo, Norway.

In a post-match statement, Ten Hag spoke about the battle they faced from different clubs to sign the England midfielder.

“We worked so hard to get this done. I think so many clubs were looking out for Mason, to sign him, and we succeeded.

“We are happy with that, he brings something in the midfield department. He’s a great team player as well and he knows how to win,” Ten Hag told Viaplay.

Mount’s switch to a direct rival like Man Utd may be one of the decisions the Blues would regret next season.
