Chelsea warned against signing this Pulisic’s replacement

Former Chelsea star, Frank Leboeuf has issued warnings to the Blues against making moves for 19-year-old French forward Rayan Cherki, who they want to sign as a replacement for Christian Pulisic.

Leboeuf in his statement compared Cherki, who can play as a forward and an attacking midfielder, with former Newcastle player Hatem Ben Arfa.

He added that he doesn’t see any reason for the Blues to sign the Lyon youngster this summer.

Chelsea are in a race to bolster their squad after the likes of Kai Havertz, Mateo Kovacic, and Mason Mount all departed the west London club in the current transfer window.

“Rayan Cherki is … you know, Hatem Ben Arfa who played for Newcastle [United] and for Nice, Paris Saint-Germain, Marseille and Lyon, skilful-wise one of the best players already on earth, 20 years old unbelievable,” Leboeuf told ESPN.

“I think it is a good investment, but sorry again, I am not sure that is the kind of player Chelsea need right now. They need experienced players. They don’t need the future; they need the present.”
