A latest report via ESPN has revealed that Manchester United are in a surprise move for Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti as a permanent replacement for their interim coach Ralf Rangnick.

Ancelotti has a close relationship with Red Devils’ boss, Sir Alex Ferguson, and the recent report revealed that the New Man United CEO, Richard Arnold, is believed to have communicated with former Red Devils about signing a new coach.

It is believed that Man Utd have drawn up a five-man shortlist, which includes PSG’s Mauricio Pochettino and Erik ten Hag of Ajax to sign permanently at the end of the season.

While Ferguson is an admirer of Pochettino, he is believed to want Ancelotti if the ex-Tottenham Hotspur manager rules himself out of the running.

Ancelotti is the kind of coach who could succeed at Old Trafford, owing to his vast record in the Premier League and Champions League and his ability to manage squads full of high-profile players.

We will have to wait until the end of the season to see who the Red Devils would sign.
