Manchester United may be ready to act swiftly in the transfer market, as they look to capitalise on Arsenal’s striker decision this summer.

According to reports, United could shift their attention to Benjamin Sesko if Arsenal opt to sign Viktor Gyökeres instead.

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta and sporting director Edu have been weighing up their striker options for several weeks, with both Gyökeres and Sesko reportedly valued around £67 million.

Recent developments suggest the Gunners are edging closer to securing a deal for Gyökeres, who starred under Ruben Amorim at Sporting CP.

Gyökeres had also been high on United’s list, particularly given his previous working relationship with Amorim, now at the helm at Old Trafford. However, multiple reports claim the Swedish striker currently prefers a move to Arsenal, which could complicate any attempt by United to hijack the transfer.

That decision could, however, open the door for United to pursue Sesko instead. The RB Leipzig striker is highly rated and has attracted interest across Europe following a strong season in the Bundesliga.

Transfer expert Ben Jacobs, via TBR Football, highlighted that this situation could result in United essentially “feeding on Arsenal’s scraps,” depending on which striker the Gunners ultimately secure. “It could be a scenario where whoever Arsenal go for opens the door for Manchester United,” Jacobs noted.

United have reportedly made contact with Sesko’s representatives in recent days, suggesting they are preparing to move quickly if Arsenal finalise their pursuit of Gyökeres. With both clubs seeking a top-level striker, the next few weeks could prove pivotal in shaping their attacking line-ups for the upcoming season.
