Manchester United have announced the signing of Andre Onana from Serie A side Inter Milan in a deal that cost them £47.1 million.

The report revealed Onana penned a five-year contract with the Red Devils with the option of a further year.

Onana was signed as a replacement for David De Gea who is now a free agent after leaving Old Trafford this summer.

In a statement after the announcement of his deal to Old Trafford, Onana said it was a great honour for him to wear Man Utd shirt.

Speaking after his unveiling, Onana said: “To join Manchester United is an incredible honour and I have worked hard all my life to get to this moment, overcoming many obstacles along the way.”

The 27-year-old is expected to join the rest of the Man Utd squad in the US on their pre-season tour and could make his debut for them when they face Arsenal in a pre-season friendly on Saturday night.
