Chelsea midfielder, Ruben Loftus-Cheek, who was part of England’s last World Cup squad in 2018 is hopeful of getting a spot from coach Gareth Southgate to be part of the Three Lions camp in Qatar.

However, Loftus-Cheek in his statement added that he isn’t thinking too much about the world cup as Chelsea is the only thing at the forefront of his mind.

‘It would be amazing to go to the World Cup and it would mean a lot to me personally,’ Ruben told reporters.

‘As a player going to the 2018 World Cup, you see your trajectory only going one way and you hope to be at the next World Cup if everything goes well.

‘A lot has happened in the time since then and I’ve come a long way, with the journey I’ve been on with my injuries and such.

‘Right now, I’m grateful I’m fit and playing consistently. That’s all I can ask for and if I go (to the World Cup), it would mean the world.

‘It’s something that’s not at the forefront of my mind and my only focus right now is doing my best for Chelsea and helping us kick on with good results.

‘We’ve got some big games coming up and it would be selfish to think of my aspirations over the club’s at the moment.’
