Liverpool legend rules out Man Utd, Chelsea from top four race

Former Liverpool star, Graeme Souness, in a recent prediction is rooting for both Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur to finish in top-four positions this season.

Souness added that Chelsea are in ‘jeopardy’ of finishing in the top four after losing their last two Premier League matches to Arsenal and Brighton.

While Arsenal and Man City continue to compete for the top spot, Tottenham and Liverpool are currently in the fourth and eighth positions respectively with Manchester United in fifth and Chelsea in the seventh position at the moment.

Despite Liverpool’s current position, Souness believes the Reds along with Tottenham and Arsenal, will make it to the top four, while he expects Man City to win the title again.

“I think both of them [Liverpool and Tottenham] will be in the top four,” Souness told talkSPORT.

“I think Chelsea are in jeopardy, a lot depends on what they do in the transfer window. Arsenal are looking convincing at the moment, they look like a really good team. But I think everyone is playing for second place this season [excluding Man City who should finish top].

“So that is my top-four prediction. Tottenham will continue to win games the way they are playing. Antonio Conte did remarkably well to get them fourth last season.

“He is a vastly experienced manager who knows what he is doing. If he is going down the route of being pragmatic, you have to believe in him, that would be my message to the Tottenham fans.

“You have got a guy there who knows what he is doing. I think he is the right man for the job and will do well at Spurs.”
