Liverpool have reached an agreement to sign Southampton star Romeo Lavia in a deal worth £60 million deal with as they defeat Chelsea in the race for the top star this summer.

Recall that Liverpool and Chelsea were linked with a move to sign the Belgian this summer transfer window.

Liverpool had already seen multiple offers for the 19-year-old turned down by the Saints and had to face added pressure following interest from Chelsea, who submitted a £48 million bid last week.

However, The Guardian in a recent report revealed that Jurgen Klopp’s led Liverpool side have now landed a transfer blow on Chelsea as they have agreed to a £60 million fee with Southampton for Lavia.

The report, however, stressed that the Reds must still convince Lavia to join them ahead of Chelsea and could still risk losing out on another one of their midfield targets after Moises Caicedo favoured joining the Blues ahead of them.
