Chelsea are still in the race to win the UCL for the second time in a row, having won it last season; however, Poland International Robert Lewandoski has named German Bayern Munich as the favourite to win the European trophy this season.

Bayern Munich had also won the trophy when they defeated French club Paris Saint-Germain in a 1-0 scoreline in the final played in Lisbon, Portugal.

Former Paris Saint-Germain star, Kingsley Coman, scored the only goal and was later selected as man of the match after Bayern secured their sixth European Cup title and second continental treble.

The German side became the second European men’s football team to win the continental treble twice and the first team to claim any European competition with a 100% winning record.

Asked if his club is still the favourite to win the competition this season, Lewandowski told PilkaNozna, “Bayern always wants to win all the trophies. Looking at how we play today and what squad we have, we are one of the main favourites of the Champions League.

“But more than once I found out that the most important thing is the health of the players during the most important weeks of the season.

“Now also – if we have healthy leaders, then we will have a much better chance. You also need to have good timing when it comes to forming to reach its peak when it’s the most important moment.”
