Leeds United under manager Marcelo Bielsa are hopeful of strengthening their side with arrival of a new player in January as they have been advised to make a move for Liverpool player, Divock Origi.

According to former Sunderland star, Kevin Phillips, he believes Leeds United will be a better place for Origi since his playing chances at Anfield have dropped drastically this season.

So far this season, the Belgian has made a single appearance for the Reds in the Premier League, which saw him come in from the bench.

The arrival of Diogo Jota at Liverpool has made it even harder for him to get a start. Aside from Jota, Liverpool have quite a number of players who can play his role.

Transfer Deal: Chelsea to sign Bayern Munich defender in January

Origi’s contract with the Reds is not suppose to end till 2024, however, he can seek more play time elsewhere and Phillips believes the 25-year-old will leave Liverpool at the end of the current season, if a move fails to materialise in January.

“I would imagine Origi will leave in January but if not it will definitely be the summer,” Phillips told Football Insider.

“Coming off the back of what the club did last year he would want to be a part of it again so I am not surprised that he didn’t leave this summer.

“But it has been a tough year for him so far. He has not been used so much and when he has got his opportunities he looks rusty. He has not played enough football.

“A fresh challenge for him would be best and I am sure there will be a queue of clubs looking to sign him if he is made available.”

We would have to wait till January to see if any move will be made.
