Lampard speaks about Abramovich after Chelsea sack

Chelsea former manager, Frank Lampard has opened up on his sack at Stamford Bridge especially how it relates to the club’s billionaire owner, Roman Abramovich.

Recall that Lampard was fired in January after the Blues dropped out in the top four on the log table.

Abramovich would go on to hand him a sack letter while appreciating him for his efforts at the club as he went ahead to sign Thomas Tuche as a replacement.

While many had not expected the Blues to treat Lampard in such a manner because he was one of their biggest footballers, the England international has however revealed he is happy he’s sacked by the Russian billionaire.

Lampard revealed he never expected to be treated differently as it is not new that Chelsea have a history of changing coaches when the results are not going the way they expect.

Your pride takes a hit. There is no doubt ”about it. That’s human. But with reflection, I would have been absolutely naive to think it would be any different for myself than it had been for managers in the past.

“History says Chelsea make changes and sometimes they have real success off the back of it. It was never for me to go against their model. I have full appreciation to Roman for the opportunity. I can only look forward,” Lampard told Jamie Redknapp.
