Chelsea manager, Frank Lampard has revealed how he plans on getting Timo Werner back to his scoring form as the Germany international hope to end his goal drought against Manchester City.

Timo Werner has failed to continue his good start to Chelsea career as he has failed to find the back of the net on 11 consecutive matches.

Despite putting in impressive performance, Werner has been guilty of missing some clear chance and this has got fans asking him to be benched with Oliver Giroud and Tammy Abraham replacing him in the team.

Frank Lampard has now insisted that he has got Timo Werner working intensively on his finishing in training in a bid to end his goal drought.

Speaking about his plans for Timo Werner ahead of the game against Manchester City, Lampard stated that every player goes through tough times in front of goal but the beauty is that Werner’s been getting chances and that’s definitely positive.

The English trainer noted that he found work on the training ground was the only way to turn it around that repetition of finishing, which Werner is doing now.

Lampard insisted that when he work like that it’s a matter of time because his natural attributes will get him in front of the goal and away from defenders.

With some pundits claiming Werner has lost his confidence, Lampard added that if his confidence goes down after missing a couple, that’s only natural.

It’s his job to help him with his confidence and push him in a positive direction.

Chelsea last five matches have seen them lose three, draw one and win one, a move that has raised question mark about their title credibility.
