Lampard confirms this Blues academy product will captain many times after winning vs. Luton

Chelsea had a great outing on Sunday at Stamford Bridge after they defeated Luton Town in the FA Cup.

The game ended in a 3-1 scoreline thanks to efforts from Tammy Abraham. Chelsea could have kept a clean sheet during the match but Kepa Arrizabalaga allowed a goal slip in.

One of the highlights of the match on Sunday was when Chelsea academy product was handed the captain band as Cesar Azplicueta, Thiago Silva and Jorginho didn’t play.

Mount is now the youngest player at 22 to wear the armband for Chelsea since John Terry did so as a 21-year-old.

Following the match, Mount took to social media to express his excitement which was emotional.

“Captaining the club I’ve been at since the age of 6, no words can describe the emotion and immense pride!,” he wrote on Instagram.

However, Chelsea manager, Frank Lampard in a post-match statement has declared that Mount will captain many more games.

Lampard stressed that Mount has been playing like a captain since last season and he deserves to be handed the band which he will get more in future games.

The Blues managed stressed that Mount dropped deeper and showed the strength and quality in his passing during the game vs. Luton Town.

“But Mason is going to be a captain many times for the club going forward just not regularly right now,” Lampard said.
