Chelsea manager Frank Lampard has backed Timo Werner to end his goal drought against Arsenal when both teams meet on boxing day.

Werner’s good start to his Chelsea career has hit a stumbling block for some weeks now as the Germany international have been unable to hit the back of the net for nine consecutive games.

Werner’s bad run of form continued on Monday when he failed to convert some good chances against the Hammers despite putting in an impressive performance.

This has raised question mark about the star forward composure in front of the goal post as some fans have ask Lampard to bench him for Oliver Giroud and Tammy Abraham.

Speaking ahead of the clash against Arsenal, Lampard noted that Werner who conceded that he underestimated the physicality and the intensity of the Premier League before he arrived will get back to form.

The English tactician stated that Werner was being honest when he spoke about the physicality of the Premier League, whether it gets taken in the right context or not.

The coach insisted that Werner was talking about his experiences and as he has always been saying before the Germany forward has got a lot of chances and will score goals for the men in Blue.
