Jules Kounde: Player makes unexpected u-turn after reaching agreement with Chelsea

It seems Chelsea are about to lose their target defender Jules Kounde from Sevilla to the Spanish side Barcelona.

This comes as the latest report revealed Kounde now favours a move to Camp Nou instead of Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea had already reached a £55 million agreement with Sevilla for the defender this week and were supposed to pay £51m up front plus a further £4m in add-ons for the French star.

While Barcelona are also interested in Kounde, they have not made any formal offer for him due to their financial restrictions.

Kounde already agreed to a five-year contract with Chelsea, but The Guardian reports now that Barcelona have told Kounde to wait for them to send their offer to Sevilla.

The Catalans manager, Xavi Hernandez is now keen on completing a deal for the highly rated defender.

According to Spanish radio station Cope, it claimed on Thursday evening that Kounde has decided to hold out for Barcelona.

If his move to Camp Nou works out, it amounts to a massive blow for Chelsea.
