Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has reacted to the reports linking his side with moves for a new striker in the ongoing January transfer window.

The Gunners have been linked with moves for former Real Madrid captain Karim Benzema, and Brentford star Ivan Toney among others.

While Benzema has reportedly expressed interest in returning to Europe from the Saudi Pro League, Toney is said to be willing to leave Brentford.

However, Arteta while speaking in a pre-match conference ahead of Arsenal’s weekend game vs Crystal Palace in the Premier League dismissed the reports of Arsenal planning to sign a striker.

When asked about reports linking the Gunners with a striker in this window, Arteta said:

“No, because I love the players that we have.*

It looks like Arsenal might not be making any major signings this January but could consider making some transfers in the summer.

As of now, Gabriel Jesus and Eddie Nketiah are the only two senior strikers in Arsenal’s squad.
