A latest report has revealed how Inter Milan Chief Executive Officer, Giuseppe Marotta, hit out at Chelsea striker Romelu Lukaku for leaving the Italian Serie A for the EPL.

Recall that Lukaku, despite winning the Italian league last season, left the club as he returned to Chelsea in the summer transfer window.

Marotta, who seems not to be happy with Lukaku’s decision, has revealed he left the Italian side for Chelsea to double his salary.

According to the Inter Milan chief, there was no difference between Lukaku and Edin Dzeko, who was signed for free as a replacement for the Belgium international in the summer transfer window.

Lukaku, who joined Chelsea for a club-record £97 million, was impressive at the start of the season; however, he seems to have lost his touch recently and is currently out of the team over an injury.

During his statement with Il Corriere Della Sera, Marotta stated that Lukaku left Inter Milan for money.

“Lukaku was sold for €115m, and we bought Dzeko for free. On the pitch, there is not much difference.

“Lukaku left to double his salary. In Italy, these figures can’t exist.

“Today, we can’t make important investments, I would not be allowed to sign Lukaku for €75m. We need reduced and specific investments.”
