Portugal international Cristiano Ronaldo could return to the Uefa Champions League next season despite joining Saudi Arabia side Al Nassr.

A report via Spanish football news outlet Fichajes revealed that the 37-year-old’s contract with Al Nassr included a clause that will allow him to return to the Premier League next season.

According to the report, Ronaldo would return to the Premier League where he would play for Newcastle United if Eddie Howe’s side finish in the top four and qualify for the Champions League.

The main reason for this is because Newcastle are owned by a consortium of Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund, RB Sports & Media and PCP Capital Partners.

Recall that Ronaldo became a free agent after his contract was terminated by Manchester United over his explosive interview.

He is expected to be unveiled by Al Nassr on Tuesday, January 3.
