How Chelsea snubbed the chance to sign Arsenal newest player

The recent report has revealed that Chelsea under American billionaire Todd Boehly snubbed the chance to sign Declan Rice from West Ham in the January transfer window.

Recall that Rice finally completed a move to Arsenal from West Ham United for £100 million plus £5 million add-ons on Saturday after two failed attempts by the Gunners.

Following his transfer to Emirate Stadium, Rice is now regarded as the most expensive British player of all time and the Gunners’ record signing.

The case would have been different if Chelsea had made the move to sign him in January.

A report via the Telegraphy revealed Chelsea former manager Graham Potter had urged the club’s hierarchy to sign Rice from West Ham.

However, instead of signing him, the Blues ended up with Argentine star Enzo Fernandez from Benfica for a British record fee of over £105 million instead.
