Havertz scores hat trick, Fofana sustains injury
Chelsea played Brentford in a behind-closed-doors friendly match which reportedly ended with the Blues winning 5-1 over the course of three 45-minute “halves”, with Kai Havertz carrying on his good form from the World Cup and hitting a hat-trick.
However, Chelsea have reasons to be worried as their summer signing Wesley Fofana came off injured from the match with a knee problem.
There are no details on the nature of the injury may be, and whether it’s the same knee (right) that he had been rehabbing for the past couple of months, which he had injured against Italian club AC Milan in October.
Fofana, who was said to be improving and set for a return during Chelsea’s match vs AFC Bournemouth one week from today, may no longer be able to play.
It would be a big blow for Chelsea to return to football season in a matter of days without Fofana as they struggle to return to the top four on the EPL table.
