Chelsea lifted the UEFA Champions League last season after they defeated Man City in the final of the tournament.

They are also in the race to win it this season again, having emerged as second in the group stage; Chelsea have been paired against Lille in the Round of 16, with the first tie set to take place on February 22 at Stamford Bridge.

While Chelsea are one of the favourites to progress into the tournament’s quarter-finals, Borussia Dortmund star Erling Haaland who the Blues have an interest in signing have ruled them out as serious contenders to win.

Haaland, who has been linked with departure from Dortmund in the coming summer, went on to list Man City, Paris Saint Germain and Real Madrid as favourites to win the UCL trophy this season.

When asked who he thinks will lift the Champions League trophy this season, Haaland told Sky Sports: “Manchester City, or Paris, or Madrid. Paris and Madrid will meet now, so one of these three.”

Chelsea were interested in signing Haaland last summer but had gone on to re-sign Romelu Lukaku from Seria A side Inter Milan instead.
