Frank Lampard reveals the system that will ensure his team stay consistent

Chelsea defeated Morecambe in their FA cup third round clash on Sunday to give themselves a breathing space after some weeks of disappointments and Frank Lampard has shared an insight on what’s to come.

Frank Lampard has seen his side lose the race for top spot after winning Just one of their last five Premier League matches but he believes his new midfield system will help going forward.

The former Chelsea midfielder believes deploying two number eights can become more dangerous for his team and allow his attacking talents to flourish.

Lampard finally got a 4-3-3 formation that squeeze Kai Havertz and Mason Mount into the same midfield, while at the same time generating space for two wingers in Pulisic and Ziyech.

Admitting of the eyebrows raised at his team performance for the last few weeks, Lampard noted that at its best, the new pattern will compete at the highest level.

Lampard stated that he’s heard some people talk about the system with two eights as though they have to run in straight lines up and down the pitch.

However, it doesn’t have to be that way when the team have players with different qualities like Mason Mount, Kai Havertz, Mateo Kovacic, N’Golo Kante.

He noted that these players play in different ways and arrive between the lines and sometimes into the area inhabited by an orthodox number 10.

And that can be more dangerous than a number 10 that just stands there all day. “They can be, for me, more dangerous, but those are the things that need time,” he said.
